Which Straw Hats Have Haki? Every Crew Member's Confirmed Abilities

Which Straw Hats have Haki? Compare every crew member's confirmed types, key scenes and the evidence behind Zoro, Sanji, Usopp and Jinbe's abilities.

Five Straw Hats are confirmed Haki users: Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Usopp and Jinbe. Luffy and Zoro have all three types. Sanji and Jinbe have Observation and Armament, while Usopp has Observation. Nami, Chopper, Robin, Franky and Brook have no confirmed type in the material covered here.

Those differences make the crew interesting. Usopp’s breakthrough helps him see the target his captain can’t reach. Sanji combines Haki with his changing body. Jinbe reinforces a martial art he already knows. Here’s what each member has, where the useful evidence sits, and which popular claims still need confirmation.

Spoilers through Wano in the table and crew profiles. The separate manga update covers events through chapter 1195. “Confirmed” includes manga scenes and author/databook information; “not confirmed” leaves room for future developments.

This is an ability reference, not a strength ranking. A confirmed type doesn’t tell you how reliably someone controls it, how much stamina they have, or whether they have learned its advanced applications.

The three Haki types, briefly

Rayleigh lays out the system in chapter 597 / episode 516. His training explanation is the starting point for the names used here:

  • Observation — Kenbunshoku: sensing presence and intent, and anticipating movement. Future Sight is an advanced application; having Observation does not automatically mean seeing the future.
  • Armament — Busoshoku: reinforcing the body or a weapon for attack and defense, including hitting a Logia user’s tangible body. Emission and internal destruction are more advanced applications. It doesn’t simply switch off a Devil Fruit.
  • Conqueror’s — Haoshoku: imposing one’s will strongly enough to overwhelm others. VIZ also calls it the Color of the Supreme King. Infusing attacks with it is a further step beyond a knockout burst.

For how Luffy combines those abilities with his transformations, use the Gears and Haki guide. The profiles below focus on the people carrying them.

Crew dossiers

Each profile separates a confirmed type from the technique or scene that makes it useful.

Monkey D. Luffy, the Straw Hat captain

Monkey D. Luffy

Captain · All three types

Confirmed: Observation, Armament and Conqueror's

Luffy learns the basics with Rayleigh, then develops them in fights that demand more. Katakuri pushes his Observation toward Future Sight; Wano develops his Armament and Conqueror's coating. In chapter 1010, he identifies Kaido's use of Conqueror's infusion and applies it to his own attacks. Gear Five is a Devil Fruit awakening; these Haki applications are additional tools he brings to it.

Roronoa Zoro, the Straw Hat swordsman

Roronoa Zoro

Swordsman · All three types

Confirmed: Observation, Armament and Conqueror's

Observation is already part of Zoro's toolkit when he and Sanji sense the presence Luffy asks about in chapter 650. His swords make Armament particularly visible. Wano establishes Conqueror's: Kaido recognizes it after Zoro's attack, and chapter 1033 connects his response to Enma with an outpouring of that power.

Nami, the Straw Hat navigator

Nami

Navigator · No confirmed type

Fighting tools: Clima-Tact, weather knowledge and Zeus

Nami can read weather changes and turn that knowledge into a fight. Her attacks become more dangerous as the Clima-Tact improves and Zeus joins her arsenal. Neither talent nor lightning automatically establishes Observation or Conqueror's Haki. She belongs in the table because “no confirmed type” is useful information, not a judgment about whether she can help win a battle.

Usopp, the Straw Hat sniper

Usopp

Sniper · Observation

Confirmed: Observation Haki

Usopp's awakening comes in chapter 758, adapted in episode 697. With Sugar approaching Luffy and Law inside the palace, he senses their positions despite the distance and obstructed view. That lets his existing marksmanship solve a new problem. The scene confirms Observation; it does not establish Future Sight, Armament or Conqueror's.

Sanji, the Straw Hat cook

Sanji

Cook · Observation and Armament

Confirmed: Observation and Armament Haki

Oda names Observation as Sanji's specialty in SBS volume 71; a specialty is not his only type. Against Queen, chapter 1034 combines his strengthened body and Armament with hotter flames for Ifrit Jambe. The anime's episode 1061 covers that breakthrough. Fire, speed and an exoskeleton each have their place in the explanation; none alone confirms Conqueror's.

Tony Tony Chopper, the Straw Hat doctor

Tony Tony Chopper

Doctor · No confirmed type

Fighting tools: Zoan transformations and Rumble Ball research

Chopper changes his body's size and proportions to suit the job. Monster Point gives him enormous physical reach and force, but a transformation's scale does not identify a Haki type. His contribution also runs beyond the fight: medicine and the ability to keep injured crewmates alive are abilities this table cannot measure.

Nico Robin, the Straw Hat archaeologist

Nico Robin

Archaeologist · No confirmed type

Fighting tools: Hana Hana no Mi and learned martial techniques

Robin's Demonio Fleur invites an obvious question because its imposing dark appearance resembles the look viewers associate with Armament. The Black Maria fight does not explicitly identify that form as Haki, so it doesn't turn a table cell into “confirmed.” Her fruit's ability to produce limbs, together with the techniques she has learned, already explains why she can be dangerous at close range.

Franky, the Straw Hat shipwright

Franky

Shipwright · No confirmed type

Fighting tools: Cyborg weapons, armor and General Franky

Franky solves combat problems by building something that can survive them or hit harder. General Franky, lasers and his other weapons are engineering achievements. Physical armor isn't the same thing as Armament Haki, and a powerful beam isn't a Conqueror's burst. Keeping those categories separate makes his successes more distinctive: the shipwright brings a different set of tools to the crew.

Brook, the Straw Hat musician

Brook

Musician · No confirmed type

Fighting tools: Swordsmanship and Yomi Yomi no Mi soul powers

Brook combines fencing with the unusual abilities of his revived soul, including the chilling effects associated with his sword attacks. Those powers can produce scenes that look supernatural even by the crew's standards. They do not establish a Haki type. Being a swordsman also doesn't mean inheriting Zoro's abilities; Brook's route through a fight is his own.

Jinbe, the Straw Hat helmsman

Jinbe

Helmsman · Observation and Armament

Confirmed: Observation and Armament Haki

Jinbe's Armament reinforces his Fish-Man Karate and defense; the Who's-Who fight in chapter 1018 is a useful example. Observation has a different source: his Vivre Card #0010, documented in the English reference and its citations. That distinction matters when checking the table. Neither his former Warlord status nor his composure against Big Mom establishes Conqueror's Haki.

Manga update through chapter 1195

Manga spoilers begin here. The reference above uses abilities established by Wano; this section follows the official English release of chapter 1195, “Weakness”.

Does Sanji have Conqueror’s Haki now?

It is not confirmed through chapter 1195. Killingham challenges Sanji over lacking the Color of the Supreme King. Sanji recalls Gaban’s discussion of his potential and self-sabotage, and the chapter ends with Ivankov’s earlier warning about a weakness. These are reasons to watch what happens next. They are not a depicted awakening.

My reading is that the chapter is asking Sanji to confront how he values himself. That character question has more substance than treating every spark around a kick as a new Haki type. For the full fight context, read our chapter 1195 explainer.

What changed for Zoro?

Zoro’s confidence and control are the development. Sommers panics and flees as Zoro advances with Haki around his swords. An impact follows, but the decisive contact and a check of Sommers’ recovery are not shown. Wano already established Zoro’s Conqueror’s; the Elbaph scene doesn’t add a newly discovered type to his row.

Does Nami’s angry scene confirm Conqueror’s?

In chapter 1058, Jinbe reacts to Nami’s fury with a Supreme King remark. It is a comic exchange, not a demonstrated awakening or an author confirmation. I keep her status as not confirmed rather than treating the gag as a combat milestone.

Questions that come up often

How many Straw Hats have all three Haki types?

Two: Luffy and Zoro. Sanji and Jinbe have two confirmed types, and Usopp has one. This count covers the ten current members in the table, with manga status checked through chapter 1195.

When does Usopp unlock Haki?

Chapter 758 / episode 697, in Dressrosa. Use the English episode page for the Sugar shot. His first victory over Sugar and this later long-distance rescue are different scenes.

Is Robin’s Demonio Fleur Armament Haki?

That has not been confirmed. Dark shading or a dramatic transformation isn’t enough to identify Armament without supporting dialogue or author information. The same evidence standard keeps lightning, metal armor and soul effects from being counted automatically.

Can the other Straw Hats learn Haki later?

Observation and Armament can be developed through training or awakened under pressure. Conqueror’s is treated as an innate disposition whose use can be developed. None of that guarantees a particular crewmate’s next power-up; this guide records what the story has established.
